Museum Complex «The Chambers»

Museum Complex «The Chambers»

This administrative building was constructed in 1785-1790 according to the project of architect Blanc in a strict classical style.

It is located in the downtown, between ancient cathedrals, in the depth of ancient park with the fountain and avenues. Intended for provincial administration, it remained official up to the ninetieth years of the 20th century.

In the early nineties the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve has released several church buildings occupied with repositories and expositions. By this time the regional administration has received the new building on Oktyabrsky Avenue. A courageous idea has appeared: to turn the historical building into a museum complex. However, the release of the official building proved to be difficult and time-consuming. Yet the museum step by step, floor by floor, in a fantastically short term (for 5 years) managed not only to repair and master this huge building, but also earned him new fame and the love of the citizens.

Now, the housing 200 years served as the bureaucracy, has found an attractive appearance of a beautiful, cozy, substantial museum.
