Vladimir Planetarium

Vladimir Planetarium

The Planetarium was opened on the 28-th of April, 1962 in the historical center of Vladimir in the building of the Nikolo-Kremlevskaya Church. Nikolo-Kremlevskaya Church was built in 1761 on the site of more ancient wooden church, burned in the great fire.

It hosts lectures on astronomy and Astronautics, biology and ecology, geography and history - more than one hundred different lectures! The subjects were selected in such way that the lectures are educational (assisting the school program), educational or entertaining.

Colorful illustrations, expressive voice of the lecturer and a wonderful atmosphere of the cognitive games allow you to take a fascinating journey, during which it is easy to remember serious scientific facts. Great interest of visitors is quite rare exhibits: the Foucault pendulum, a large globe of the Moon, the models of the first artificial satellites. Here is the only diorama in the country showing the takeoff of a spaceship "Energia-Buran". Small, cozy room...Sounds beautiful music... And a thousands stars flash on the huge spherical dome-screen! For an hour you are immersed in the wonderful, exciting world of space, the world that is majestic, boundless and wonderful! This miracle gives to its visitors the Vladimir planetarium. Every visitor here will discover something interesting: to learn about the possibility of life on the neighboring planets, to learn how to find in the sky familiar constellations, to meet with your favorite artist or to listen to poetic lines under a canopy of stars.
