The Museum of Nature

In 1990 Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Preserve opened in the city of Vladimir the first permanent "natural" exhibition " In the world of animals", which in 1997 after reorganization was called "The Native nature". At the end of 2008 began a new stage in the history of this exhibition: after completion of major repair and exhibition works, here has opened a new Museum of nature.

Here was applied not the traditional "natural history" or collectible method of constructing exposure, where Museum objects illustrate a particular natural laws, and visitors 'experience the feeling of immersion in nature. It is a journey that lasts a year and ends in an hour.

The journey begins with the "pass" through cut blocks of limestone, symbolizing the huge layers of time, compressed organic life over the last 300 million years. Passing through the layers of water-glacial deposits, found on the banks of the river Oka, and a vertical wall of a limestone quarry, the visitor is aware of the planetary scale and the influence of the past geological epochs to the present. In the hands of the travelers – the tablet cards, which graphically combine the plan of the exposition with the landscape complexes of the region.

Space value of solar energy for life on Earth represents the Museum composition " The Tree of life" in the center of the room. This is the model of a tree with its branches stretched to the Sun, and the roots hugging the ground.

Large forms - trees, animals – are combined with enlarged images of flora and fauna. Applied technical means allow to combine a panoramic view with admiring the details. Exhibits, voices of the animals, texts, word of the tour guide, audioguide, videos, computer kiosk information should reveal to the visitors a surprisingly complex system of biological regularities that exist in nature.

Finishing the journey, the researchers do not leave the Museum, and go to a Museum lab "Forest school", where they will make their own little discoveries. The main principle is: "To touch is necessarily!".

The Museum will provide the visitors with (children – through playing) the opportunity to touch, to try, to experience "the joy of your own discoveries". As did L. N. Tolstoy believe: "Knowledge is then only knowledge when it is acquired by the efforts of your own mind."

Having seen the exposition, the visitor should come to the thought that preserving nature depends on people.

The Museum will be interesting primarily for pupils and students of Vladimir and the Vladimir region.
